Personal requests to keep us going

Check out all we’re doing at https://MorningMindsetMedia.com

When I remember throughout the course of an average day that YOU (all of you) are praying for Mindi and me, I’m so humbled and thankful. Thank YOU for being such a support to us!

This update is a bit self-focused in nature, not because I enjoy or want to be self-focused, but because I recognize that the strength and provision God gives to Mindi and me personally is the reservoir from which our work on the Morning Mindset flows. So, we need your prayers…

AGING PARENTS AND THE CHALLENGES THAT COME WITH IT

Back in October of 2024, we invited Mindi’s parents to live with us (they are in in their early 80s) and they agreed and moved in. It’s been good… but not great, so far.

There are lots of things to learn on both sides about what it looks like for us to live harmoniously, care for each other in this new and difficult stage of life, and honor Jesus in the process.

I’m particularly concerned on a day to day basis for Mindi. The care of her parents and the wide variety of things involved in that fall on her to a greater degree than they fall on me… and it is a LOT to carry. Physical needs, financial needs, emotional needs, spiritual needs, relational needs… and how all of those demands impact Mindi in those very same areas… it’s a lot.

Her mother is enrolled in Home Hospice care and suffers from end stage coronary artery disease. She’s still able to get around, do most things, and care for herself in most ways, but that ability waxes and wanes day to day. Both her mom and dad evidence signs of the physical, mental, and emotional challenges that are normal for their age. Overall, we see in them a diminishing ability to handle the things life brings.

Besides those obvious challenges are the relational difficulties that come from the history we’ve experienced together as parents and child (and son-in-love, as they like to call me).

All of that makes for a challenging mixture of care, concern, frustration at times, love, painful conversations when needed, and overall difficulty that doesn’t let up. So, we need the LORD’s strength and wisdom and help day by day by day.

Mindi’s parents will be traveling for June and most of July, which will be a needed break for all of us, but there are health and safety concerns related to that, which we are already lifting to the LORD. We appreciate your prayers.

Please ask the LORD to fill all of us with the power and fruit of His Spirit, so that He will be glorified in this difficult time.

FAMILY REUNION

The second week in June our family is hoping to have a family reunion at a lake here in North Dakota. Some generous friends from our church family have offered us the use of their lake house and all the toys that go along with it (thanks D and D). We are eager to have a deep and meaningful time together and lots of fun.

The one heartache is that our youngest son just took a new position for work and is unable to come. But he’s sending our daughter-in-law and their new baby girl to join us, so that’s a wonderful consolation - but we will miss him terribly!

Please ask the LORD to fill that lake house with His presence and to enable all of us to learn even more how to love, support, and encourage each other as we all endeavor to walk in the Spirit day by day, for His glory.

How can we be praying for you? Please hit reply and let me know!

We love you friends,

Carey and Mindi
