It's official!

God has opened the door - in amazing ways!

The trip to Bismarck was anointed of the LORD, and the vote to call me as Lead Pastor was overwhelmingly positive. Thank you for your prayers. Mindi and I are consumed with wrapping up things here in Colorado Springs to get moved back there (by June 1st).

We are looking forward to building healthy relationships with the Staff and Elders of GracePoint church first, and to connect with the people of the body a little bit at a time. It feels like such a good fit!

Later today, I’ll be recording an update for my “Digging Deeper” podcast (for partners) that walks through some of the God-things we have seen happen in this process. Some of the things I’ll talk about are…

  • When the previous Pastor resigned last August was the SAME time the LORD called me back into ministry.

  • The day that the GracePoint search team posted their opening is the same day I saw it.

  • My resume and questionnaire were the first they received.

  • One member of their team (a former Elder) felt from the moment that he saw my resume that I’d be one of their final candidates.

  • The time Mindi and I were away from home taking care of her Mom was entirely “silent” in terms of hearing from churches I’d applied to.

  • The day after we prayerfully determined it was time to leave and head home, the GracePoint team called to set up our first call (that SAME team member is the one who called me.)

  • The questions this team asked me in all my interviews were mature, godly, spiritually minded, and the right kind of questions.

  • The entire search team agreed unanimously for Mindi and I to come for a “soft visit.”

  • After the soft visit, where I met with the search team, staff, and elders, their search team voted 9-0 to have me come as a candidate.

  • Their Elder board voted 9-0 for me to be presented to the church as a candidate.

  • Their congregation voted with over 100 “yes” votes and only 3 “No” votes.

  • The time between my first first phone call with their team until my sermon at GracePoint and their congregational vote last Sunday was just under 2 months (unbelievably quick in a church “committee” process like this).

As I believed from the beginning - the timing was just as important as the place - and God put both of them together perfectly.

I’ll begin my role as Lead Pastor at GracePoint June 1st.

Thank you so much for the ministry work you are doing at The Morning Mindset! I find myself listening to the Morning Mindset every morning when I wake up and take our dog for a walk. It definitely helps get my mind aligned with the truth of God's Word!

I look forward to settling into a “normal” routine as a Pastor and being able to strategize a bit more about how the Morning Mindset will figure into my life going forward.
