A new idea.. pondering, praying... what do you think?

PERSONAL UPDATE

I’m not sure if I’ve mentioned this or not… but my wife’s parents have moved out of our home and back to North Carolina (after living with us for 8 months). It turned out that North Dakota winters combined with the lack of familiar community were not a good combination. The Lord opened a door of opportunity for them to move back, rejoin their previous church and small group, and slide right back into their community there. It has gone well for them so far. Mindi’s Mom remains on hospice care and her heart disease is (naturally) not improving.

We also had the joyful experience this last weekend of being part of a surprise engagement party for our youngest daughter and her now fiancé. He drew us into the process of planning his “pop the question” moment and the party to follow and it was a joyful time for all. We are excited and the planning has begun for a March wedding, during their college spring break. Faith’s fiancé, Logan, is just the guy we’ve been praying for and we are excited to have him as part of our family in the near future. He has one more year of college to finish, then seminary (he wants to be a Pastor).

The rest of our family are doing well… my oldest son runs his business with the typical ups and downs while his wife continues to have on and off again health issues. Please pray for her healing. My oldest daughter and her family are doing well. Their boys continue growing (funny how that happens) and their way of parenting according to biblical principles continues to encourage us grandparents! The same can be said of our youngest son and his wife. Their little girl (the first granddaughter) is a sweet little thing and she is being raised to love Jesus from an early age. Our middle daughter remains single and we all continue to pray for the young man the Lord has in mind for her to arrive soon. If you know of any godly young men who live in Southern California… 🙂 

And… we’d appreciate your prayers for my wife’s brother-in-law. For about 10 years now he’s had a progressive and mysterious illness that is now manifesting itself in a loss of vision and terrible pain in his eyes, as well as loss of mobility - there are days he doesn’t have full control of the muscles in his legs. Recent neurological tests have ruled out ALS and other concerning conditions, but they are still in the dark as to what IS going on. We continue to pray for God’s hand of healing to touch Mike.

Please keep praying for us as we carry the burdens of Pastoral life, church leadership, and ongoing connection with our extended family. Also, please lift prayers for our extended family.

MORNING MINDSET AUDIENCE

We continue to see the audience growing day by day, little by little. Much of that is due to those who currently listen telling others about the podcast. I know this because many people write to me each week and tell me that they are sharing the podcast with their friends and family.

Each daily English episode now receives over 16,000 listens within the first week of publication. That’s a jump of approximately 2000 additional listeners each day. I’m not sure where those increases come from all at once, but I’ll take it. 🙂 God’s word is going out to more and more people. I’m certain YOUR prayers are a piece of what God is using to advance His cause through the MM.

HINDI VERSION

The Hindi version of the podcast (India) still only has 1 regular download each day, bumping up a few now and then. I don’t know the first thing about publicizing a show in that language or demographic, so please ask the Lord to make the show known to those who need it.

CHINESE VERSION

A similar story could be told for the Chinese version - though the numbers are slightly higher. In the past 30 days we’ve had as many as 30 downloads per day (9/13), but uit averages about 8 listeners per day. Again, the Lord can cause these efforts to thrive, so pray for His help and blessing.

SPANISH VERSION

Of all the non-English versions the Spanish edition has seen the best growth, but it’s still small. We average right around 25 listens per day. The Lord is the one who has led us to do what we’re doing, so join us in asking Him to bring the listeners He wants to reach.

Continue to ask the LORD to add listeners to the audience and to richly bless them through what they hear. Ask the Holy Spirit to transform listeners by His power, from the inside out. May He raise up His people to be holy, set apart, and bold for His sake in our day!

A NEW IDEA - I’D LOVE YOUR REACTION

Over the years of publishing the Morning Mindset I have had a number of people ask me if I might one day publish a companion podcast that is an “evening wind-down, get ready for bed” kind of podcast. It wouldn’t be super hard to do it, I’m just leery about doing it under the assumption that it would be helpful when it may in fact, not be.

So… what do you think?

If I did a show of this nature, I’d make it…

• Short like the Morning Mindset (5 minutes? 10 at most?)

• Would include soft, soothing music throughout the episode

• Would focus on scriptures that encourage trust and hope

• Would spend at least a minute or two in a “days end” kind of prayer
